Traditional Sapintrong Game, Gross Motor SkillsAbstract
In early childhood education, the development of gross motor skills receives proper attention from educators. Activities involving children's gross motor skills serve as formers and regulators of muscle, bone, and nervous system growth. Children's movement skills can develop and improve effectively if the aspects constituting their basic movements are developed from the outset. The indicators of issues in children's gross motor skills include teachers not fully understanding the importance of gross motor skill development and not incorporating gross motor activities into their lessons, resulting in underdeveloped movement skills in children. Additionally, some children lack confidence in performing activities, leading them to refuse to participate. Based on the title and background above, the author formulates the following problems: 1). What is the gross motor skill ability of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village? 2). How does the traditional sapintrong game process improve the gross motor skills of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village? 3). Can the traditional sapintrong game improve the gross motor skills of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village? This study aims to: 1). Describe the gross motor skills of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village. 2). Describe the process of the traditional sapintrong game in improving the gross motor skills of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village. 3). To describe how the traditional game of sapintrong can improve the gross motor skills of young children in Group A at RA Ridwanul Huda in Jagamulya Village. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The tools used in data collection were observation, tests, and documentation. The subjects of this research were Group A, consisting of 20 children. The success indicator set was 75% of the 20 children falling into the “Developing as Expected” (BSH) category. The research results showed that the overall learning achievement of students in the pre-cycle condition reached 45.5% with an average score of 1.82. In cycle I, the overall learning achievement of students reached 65.50% or an average of 2.62. In Cycle II, overall student learning achievement reached 82.3% with an average of 3.29. It can be concluded that the application of the traditional Sapintrong game has proven to improve the gross motor skills of young children. With these results, this study can be categorized as successful.
